Analysis of the Global Fluorochemical Market
Release Time:2024-06-14 Browse:33

The global demand for fluorine chemical products will grow at an annual rate of 3.9%, reaching 3.5 million tons by 2016. The main reasons for its growth include the increase in global production of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, as well as the rapid growth of raw aluminum production. Of course, fluorine chemical enterprises also face many challenges. Firstly, there are major raw materials, such as fluorite. China is the world's largest supplier and its production is currently restricted. Another challenge is environmental regulations targeting fluorocarbon compounds, which are constantly being replaced or phased out due to global and national regulations. Finally, the competition with alternative products is becoming increasingly fierce, especially in the commercial refrigeration and foaming industries, which have brought enormous pressure to the development of the fluorine chemical industry.

In the fluorocarbon industry, by 2016, its growth rate was only slightly lower than the overall growth rate of the fluorochemical industry. Of course, each type of product also has significant differences. According to the requirements of the Montreal Protocol, developed countries have reached the final stage of phasing out the ODS substance HCFCs, while developing countries will also begin reducing them in 2015. Therefore, by 2016, the demand for HCFC will continue to decline. For the HFC market, there was a rapid growth from 2001 to 2011, and it will continue to be an important substitute for HCFCs products in developing countries. However, due to the high GWP value of HFCs, their demand is limited, especially in Western Europe, where HFO products with low GWP values have become an important component of the market. For other fluorochemical products, due to the expanding demand for high-performance materials in the automotive engine, chemical process, electronics, and coating markets, the demand for fluororesin products is growing rapidly. Fluorine resin products have not yet been widely popularized in many regions of the world, which has brought huge space for market growth. Due to the rapid growth trend of global aluminum products, the growth rate of inorganic and special fluorine products will be close to the average level of the entire industry by 2016. In addition, the increase in production of semiconductors, batteries, and other electronic components will drive the demand for specialty gases and other high-value fluorochemical products.

The Asia Pacific region will continue to be the largest market for fluorine chemicals, accounting for over half of global demand in 2016 and will develop rapidly. China will continue to benefit more from the fluorine chemical industry and become the world's largest market, with India ranking second. Thanks to the rapid expansion of the aluminum industry, the demand for aluminum fluoride is also constantly growing, benefiting some small countries in Eastern Europe and markets in Africa/Middle East. From a long-term perspective, although they experienced a decline from 2006 to 2011 and their current demand is on the rise, by 2016, the share of the United States, Western Europe, and Japan in the global fluorine chemical market will shrink.
